On Wednesday, Governor Chris Christie vetoed a New Jersey bill that would have limited ammunition magazines to hold 10 rounds instead of 15. Two parents of Sandy Hook shooting victims delivered 55,000 online petition signatures to his office supporting the legislation. Two hours later, Christie vetoed the bill because he said it wouldn’t do anything to reduce gun violence. "I will not support such a trivial approach to the sanctity of human life, because this is not governing. Governing is confronting problems,” Christie said. Instead, he suggested the state create a new standard for involuntary commitment of mentally ill patients and to require people with a history of illness to prove they're suitable to own a firearm.
