Michael Jackson's estate announced Tuesday that it has inked a deal with Canadian theater company Cirque du Soleil to produce a Jackson-themed show. The production will open in Las Vegas in the fall of 2011 and, after a brief run, will tour the world. Following the tour's conclusion, another Jacko-inspired show will open in late 2012 in Vegas, which will be its permanent home. Both shows may incorporate 3-D effects and holographic imagery, with the permanent show opening alongside a Jackson themed-nightclub. Costs will be split between Cirque and the estate. Daniel Lamarre, Cirque du Soleil's president and chief executive said, “Michael Jackson made so many breakthroughs in the history of entertainment that we have no voice—we have to deliver new technology, new material, and an artistic content that will have no parallel.”
