Clarence Thomas: I’m Not Biased

He may be known for his silence on the bench, but Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas knows how to lash out, too. At a speech on Saturday, Thomas reacted to critics who claim his wife’s Tea Party activism and his attendance at a Koch brothers conference have marred his impartiality, saying his detractors “seem bent on undermining” the Supreme Court. Thomas said he and his wife “believe in the same things” and “are focused on defending liberty.” He also warned critics, saying that someday, “long after I’m gone,” they would need the court “to be credible and to be fully functioning to protect your liberties.”
