After upsetting readers with an initial story that some said blamed the victim, The New York Times has printed a follow up to its story about the alleged gang rape of an 11-year-old girl in Cleveland, Texas by 19 men. The story includes the first interview with the victim’s father, who says she came home one morning at 3 or 4 a.m. crying. Later that day, she told her mother she had been raped, and the father discovered explicit photos of her on his cell phone, which she had been using. The father says he and his wife called the cops three days later—but the police department says it was school authorities who alerted it to the crime.
