Hillary to the rescue. Quelling fears on the status of foreign policy relations after last night’s vice presidential debate, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivered remarks on democratic transitions in the Middle East Friday. The Secretary began by addressing Thursday’s announcement that the State Department knew before the attack that more security in Libya was needed. “No one wants to find out exactly what happened more than I do,” Clinton said, adding “there is much we still don’t know.” Clinton described the White House’s plan to continue “fighting terrorism” across the Middle East—and to increase pressure on Assad’s regime in Syria. “The U.S. will not retreat. We will keep leading and we will stay engaged in the Maghreb, and everywhere in the world.”
