CNN Fires Jeffrey Lord Over ‘Sieg Heil’ Tweet

CNN on Thursday cut ties with contributor Jeffrey Lord, hours after he tweeted the slogan “Sieg Heil!” at a prominent liberal commentator. “Nazi salutes are indefensible,” a CNN spokesperson said in a statement. “Jeffrey Lord is no longer with the network.” The conservative pundit was hired during the 2016 campaign for his reliable, almost sycophantically pro-Trump voice. On Thursday he tweeted the Nazi slogan at Angelo Carusone, president of liberal watchdog group Media Matters, as a “mockery” of what Lord characterized as the “fascism” of liberals who target advertisers as an attempt to get commentators removed from cable outlets. After he was fired, Lord tweeted, “LOL!”
