Colorado’s deputy Secretary of State has referred a “faithless elector” the state's Attorney General for potential charges. Denver elector Michael Baca attempted to vote for Ohio Governor John Kasich on Monday, in defiance of his state's popular vote for Hillary Clinton. Colorado electors swear an oath to cast their ballot for the candidate with the highest popular vote. Electors who vote against the state's winner are subject to misdemeanor charges, the Colorado Secretary of State’s office said. Baca did not successfully cast his ballot for Kasich, as he was replaced with another elector who voted for Clinton. The state’s Attorney General will decide whether he will face charges.
