Congressman Wants OWS Investigation

A member of Congress has called on the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate “troubling reports” of possible misconduct in police officers’ treatment of Occupy Wall Street protesters in New York City. Democrat Jerrold Nadler cited “possible unlawful surveillance” of protesters’ acting under the First Amendment and excessive use of force at the hands of NYPD officers. He added that he was “especially troubled” that the NYPD “aggressively blocked journalists” from reporting on the Nov. 15 Zuccotti Park eviction. An NYPD spokesman told the Associated Press that officers only arrested people who were behaving unlawfully.
