As Senate candidate, even after ‘Nam gaffes.

Will Democrats live to rue the day? The Democratic Party of Connecticut chose state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal as its candidate for Senate on Friday, even after The New York Times exposed him as a serial misleader about serving in Vietnam. In fact, the Times has uncovered a fresh batch of statements where Blumenthal seems to imply that he fought in ‘Nam, including in 2007 when he said at a Memorial Day parade, “In Vietnam, we had to endure taunts and insults, and no one said, ‘Welcome home.’” The Republicans, meanwhile, chose a candidate of their own who won’t be without her own baggage: former WWE CEO Linda McMahon.
