Univision, the Spanish language television station, is refusing to air an ad by a conservative group telling Latino voters to stay home on Election Day. The ad, paid for by a group called Latinos for Reform, debuted in several Nevada markets Tuesday. Entirely in Spanish, the ad says President Barack Obama has not delivered on his campaign promises on immigration reform, and claims the Democrats are “all talk and no action.” It ends with a narrator saying “Don’t vote this November. This is the only way to send them a clear message.” Univision said in a statement that the network believes in “promoting civic engagement” and they encourage Hispanics to vote. The president of Latinos for Reform, Robert de Posada, has worked as a pundit for Univision, but the network was quick to point out that de Posada in no way represents the network.
