Construction spending in the U.S. reached its highest level since 2008 in July, raising hopes that robust domestic growth will counteract turbulence in world markets. Construction grew 0.7 percent from June, reaching an annual rate of $1.083 trillion. A Pantheon Macroeconomics economist told clients that “the construction sector overall is the strongest part of the economy.”
