A female police officer was killed and a street sweeper wounded at the southern edge of Paris on Thursday, one day after two gunmen opened fire on the offices of a satirical newspaper and killed 12 people. Thursday’s shooter remains at large, according to French Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, adding that it’s too early to link the incident to the deadly attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo. The officer was investigating a traffic accident when shots rang out, police said. Authorities have issued the highest level of alert for France following Wednesday’s assault.
