According to a report in the New York Daily News, the rookie NYPD officer who shot a man in a Brooklyn stairwell in November was texting his union representative while the victim lay dying. Peter Liang reportedly texted his rep instead of calling for help for Akai Gurley, 28. To make matters worse, the report claims, Liang and his partner weren’t supposed to be patrolling those stairways that night.
