Maine State Police were dispatched to enforce the quarantine of nurse Kaci Hickox after she made it clear she would not stay at home for 21 days. “I am not going to sit around and be bullied by politicians and forced to stay in my home when I am not a risk to the American public,” Hickox said on Wednesday. Hickox returned from West Africa last week and was quarantined against her will in New Jersey, despite testing negative for Ebola. Maine Gov. Paul Lepage said law enforcement was needed to implement the “unwilling” nurse’s quarantine, so he sent in the cops. “We hoped that the health care worker would voluntarily comply with these protocols, but this individual has stated publicly she will not abide by the protocols,” LePage said in a statement. Hickox said she may sue Maine if the state continues to enforce her quarantine past Thursday. “I will go to court to attain my freedom," said Hickox, if the quarantine is not lifted by Thursday morning.
