Florida Governor Charlie Crist will not give money back to donors who are angry the Senate candidate left the Republican Party after falling behind a more conservative candidate in the polls. Crist further spurned his old political team by changing his voter registration to “no party affiliation” Wednesday. The governor’s chief opponent, Marco Rubio, has been pushing Crist to give back donations, but Crist says no way—he’ll be spending the cash “on a good cause.” On April 30, the day after Crist fled the GOP, he said on MSNBC that he’d “probably” give back the money. His spokesman clarified Wednesday that the no-refund rule was the “official statement” on the issue. The same day, the Florida Republican Party announced it had sold a portrait of Crist for $7,700 on eBay.
