Crowds Outraged at Mubarak Speech

Get Out!

Vow to storm presidential palace.

After a national address in which President Mubarak budged only slightly to their demands, protesters in Cairo’s Tahrir Square reacted with outrage. “Get out! Get out!” they shouted, vowing to march to the presidential palace. Others said they would remain in Tahrir Square, where tent cities and plywood shelters have sprung up, until Mubarak gave his full resignation. In his speech, Egypt’s President said he would not step down, as was expected, but delegate some authority to Vice President Omar Suleiman. He also proposed a handful of constitutional reforms. Suleiman, speaking next, stoked the crowds' fury by telling them all to " go home. Go back to work."
