Cruise to Star in "Les Grossman" Film

Ben Stiller will co-produce Tropic Thunder spinoff.

For those who missed Tom Cruise’s show-stopping performance with Jennifer Lopez at Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards as his notoriously foul-mouthed Tropic Thunder character Les Grossman, the actor will be getting more screentime soon. Paramount and MTV Films confirmed Wednesday that they are beginning development on a movie based on Cruise’s “mega producer” role from the 2008 film, which he will star in and produce with his Tropic Thunder co-star Ben Stiller. Paramount issued a cheeky press release today stating that they have “secured the life rights to Grossman,” who has “recently mentored talents such as Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.” The release also included a response from the fictional Grossman after he was asked what the screenplay was about: “To quote my great friend Kirk Lazarus, ‘I don’t read the script, the script reads me.’”
