Want to get that Lady Gaga song out of your head? Scientists are now recommending that the way to get a song out of endless loop is to take on tricky anagrams, which will force the music out of your recent memory. Although this may sound like a lot of work for some, scientists said a good novel may also work. The key is to keep the mind so stimulated so that the lyrics to “Born This Way” won’t keep working their way back in there. But don’t get carried away and try to read some Proust—scientists said that if the cognitive task is too difficult, the mind could just shut down and you’ll be back to humming once again.
