The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah needed a little help last night when it came time for him to comment on Donald Trump’s call for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” So he brought on Senior Political Correspondent Hasan Minhaj, who just happens to be a Muslim himself, to share his unique perspective on the situation.
Minhaj surprised the host by saying he doesn’t find Trump’s comments “controversial” at all, admitting the GOP frontrunner is “100 percent right” that Muslims should not be allowed in the United States. “It’s just not safe.”
“One-third of a major political party in America is backing a racist maniac,” he continued, explaining that it’s Muslims who are in danger. “This place is scary right now.”

And, like Trump, Minhaj wanted to figure out “what the hell is going on.”
“I think this is where the evidence points: Donald Trump is an extremist leader who came out of nowhere,” Minhaj explained. “He’s self-financed, recruits through social media, attracts his followers with a radical ideology to take over the world, and is actively trying to promote a war between Islam and the West.”
“Oh my God, Hasan,” Noah responded. “He’s white ISIS.”
“That’s right, Trevor,” Minhaj confirmed. “Donald Trump is white ISIS: WHISIS.”
“Where are all the moderate white conservatives?” the correspondent asked, imitating those on the right who consistently demand moderate Muslims to denounce terrorism. “I mean, come on. They’ve got a responsibility to step up and speak out against WHISIS, because I’m sick of this.”
And even though major Republican figures from Reince Priebus to Paul Ryan have distanced themselves from Trump’s remarks, Minhaj told Noah, “I don’t buy it.”
“I still don’t feel safe,” he continued. “So, look. I know there is a lot of nuance to the situation and every conservative isn’t the same, I know. But it’s just easier on my brain to be irrationally afraid of an entire group of people. So, until we can figure out what’s going on here, I, Hasan J. Minhaj, say we should not allow any conservatives into the White House!”
