Donald Trump’s microphone was experienced audio issues during the first presidential debate on Monday night, the Commission on Presidential Debates said Friday. The technical malfunction only affected the sound level inside the debate hall, the commission noted, and did not alter how millions of viewers at home heard the Republican candidate. Debate-watchers observed that Trump appeared to be sniffling into his microphone during the debate, but Trump aides were quick to say it was simply his breathing that was picked up on the microphone. Following the debate, Trump told reporters in the spin room that his microphone was “defective,” and suggested the debate might have been rigged against him. “I wonder, was that on purpose? Was that on purpose?” Trump told reporters in the spint room following the debate. “But I had a mic that wasn't worked properly, with, working properly within the room.”
