An Uber driver in Delhi has been charged with raping a passenger after driving her home last month. The case of 32-year-old Shiv Kumar Yadav’s alleged attack on a 25-year-old woman sparked international criticism of Uber and reignited outrage in India over the treatment of females. Judge Kaveri Baweja ordered the case to begin Thursday in a special fast-track court system. Yadav is also facing charges of kidnapping and criminal intimidation. Indian officials have yet to decide if Uber will face criminal charges. “That is a separate case and will take some time,” said a police official.
