Occupy Wall Street got a high-profile endorsement in its current quarrel with Trinity Wall Street, a historic Episcopal church near Zuccotti Park. In a message posted on Occupy's website, Archbishop Desmond Tutu asked Trinity to “find a way to help” the protesters, though in another message posted to Trinity's website, he said not to use his endorsement to justify breaking the law. The protesters want to use a gravel lot that Trinity owns—it has a great deal of real estate in lower Manhattan—but the church says it would pose a safety risk.
