The Los Angeles jury deciding whether it was Nicollette Sheridan’s complaint about being hit by Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry that got her fired from the ABC show in 2009 told the judge on Friday afternoon that it is “hopelessly deadlocked.” But Judge Elizabeth Allen White asked them to go home for the weekend and return Monday for more deliberations. The judge also asked both sides to meet and discuss settling in case the jury stays stuck, but nothing came of those talks. The jury admitted they have been at an impasse since their first vote—eight against four. To reach a verdict, nine need to be in agreement. The trial began on Feb. 27, and the jurors deliberated for approximately nine hours over a period of three days. “She’s as strong as an ox and as pretty as a princess,” said Sheridan’s lawyer, Mark Baute, after he emerged from the settlement discussions late Friday.
