Detroit Mayor: No Federal Bailout Yet

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing said on Sunday that he hasn't asked for federal help to climb out of an $18 billion hole even though his city had to file for bankruptcy. "I think it’s very difficult right now to ask directly for support," he said on ABC’s This Week. "We’re not the only city that’s going to struggle through what we’re going through." Detroit filed for bankruptcy protection on July 18 because creditors refused to accept a plan that would have repaid them about 10 cents for every dollar they were owed. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder also said he doesn't think the federal government will help Detroit straighten out its finances.
