2.4 million Americans tune in to watch.

An estimated 2.4 million Americans tuned in to watch the 50th anniversary episode of science-fiction series Doctor Who on Saturday afternoon, setting a record for the highest ratings ever recorded on BBC America. By the encore of the episode, that number had spiked to 3.6 million. The broadcast was projected worldwide, attracting more than 10 million viewers from the UK. Twitter got a piece of the Doctor Who pie too, with 1.8 million tweets sent about to the episode, beating every cable show.
