In interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN Wednesday night, embattled L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling announced that he and his wife, Shelly, are divorcing. “The poor girl. I don’t know how she can live and deal with this,” he said. “Thank God she has wonderful attorneys—wonderful—and they will protect her.” Sterling also said that if he is forced to give up his shares in the team, Shelly should be allowed to keep hers. “I mean, she didn’t do anything. I brought this all on her,” he explained. The couple have been married for more than 50 years. Sterling also continued to defend himself in the interview, declaring, “What am I, a Frankenstein? What am I, some kind of an ogre? I’m a good person. I’m a warm person. I say hello to everybody who comes to the team.”
