Despite every indication that Hillary Clinton’s vigorous preparation helped her not only best her opponent in the first presidential debate but also improve her standing in the polls in the days that followed, Donald Trump once again ridiculed the idea of debate prep during remarks Thursday evening in New Hampshire. “They talk about debate prep,” Trump said of the Clinton campaign. “That’s not debate prep. She’s resting.” While Trump “wants to be with the American people,” he said Hillary Clinton “wants to rest.”
Trump also denied that he was participating in Thursday night’s invite-only town hall-style event as “practice” for the upcoming second presidential debate in St. Louis, which will have a similar format. “This isn’t practice. This has nothing to do with Sunday,” he said. “We’re just here because we just wanted to be here.”
