Not this again! After steadily climbing in recent weeks, the U.S. stock market took a big hit on Tuesday as fears of Europe’s mounting debt crisis pushed the Dow down 177 points. Briefly falling below 11000 for the first time since October, the index finally recovered slightly to finish at 11023. “There is a worry about the state of things overseas. It is the European debt crisis that is causing this,” said a New York economist. Finance chiefs from the Euro zone’s 16 countries met in Brussels today to discuss what to do about worrisome public debt in Ireland, Portugal, and Spain.
