Who knew Nicolas Sarkozy’s new nickname was “the Rat Man?” That’s what philosopher Alain Badiou calls the French President in his new book, The Meaning of Sarkozy. The Guardian says the book, which is only now available in English, is a “borderline Bolshevik” rant against the “bling bling” President and his celebrity wife. But the reviewer concedes that the book is compelling nonetheless, as Badiou makes sensible observations about the nature of government and the conservative party.
