Rapper and businessman Dr. Dre has found himself in hot water after his former psychotherapist sued him for $10 million. According to the suit obtained by Rolling Stone, Dr. Charles Sophy alleges that Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, subjected him to “unbearable harassment” that includes “late-night texts, threats of intimidation and violence, and homophobic rhetoric.” Young and Dre first came in contact when the doctor was tasked with mediating Dre’s divorce from ex-wife Nicole Young back in 2018. In response to Sophy’s filing on Wednesday, Howard King, Dre’s lawyer, told the outlet that the rapper filed a “confidential complaint” in 2023 over Sophy’s “incompetence,” and Sophy’s accusations are an attempt to outrun the medical board coming after him. King states that while Sophy treated Dre’s family, he encouraged one of the Grammy winner’s children to make false allegations and turn against him. Sophy’s suit details a series of pointed texts Dre reportedly sent during 2023. Dre’s alleged threats have put Sophy in a state of “constant fear.” He even wears a bulletproof vest when he leaves his home.
