Drake has broken his silence about the OVO Fest afterparty shooting that left two dead in Toronto earlier this month. In an open letter posted on his blog, the rapper says his “trusted advisors” and lawyer advised him against speaking out for fear of being “misinterpreted.” “However, today I am choosing to follow my heart,” he wrote, adding that he was was “plagued and pained by the violence that continues to escalate in our city. He sent his “deepest condolences” to the families of the victims, Ariela Navarro-Fenoy, 26, and Duvel Hibbert, 23.
