A dismissal is looking more and more likely: “Mr. Strauss-Kahn will not be pleading guilty to anything,” the former IMF chief’s lawyers said Wednesday after meeting with prosecutors. Strauss-Kahn’s accuser didn’t do herself any favors either by calling on the district attorney, Cyrus Vance Jr., to step aside and appoint a special prosecutor. Vance rejected the call, which the accuser’s lawyers said was based on the fact that prosecutors had based their doubts about her story on a summary, not a full transcript, of a conversation she had with a man in prison in a dialect of their native Fulani language after the alleged incident. Law enforcement said on Wednesday that she had at least three conversations about Strauss-Kahn with the prisoner, all of which are still being analyzed.
