Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s defense team will have a few extra weeks to prepare for the civil suit filed against him by the hotel maid who accused him of sexual assault. A New York court postponed a March 15 hearing in Manhattan on the suit filed by Nafissatou Diallo, rescheduling the hearing for March 28. Prosecutors dropped criminal charges against Strauss-Kahn last year, but Diallo has continued to seek monetary damages in civil court. Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers think the suit should be dismissed, arguing that the former IMF chief had diplomatic immunity. Strauss-Kahn himself is not required to attend the hearing, which will help him avoid extra attention in the media. Meanwhile, Diallo’s lawyer told the Associated Press that she “can't wait to get to trial."
