A report by the Dutch Safety Board has concluded that Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 crashed because of a Russian 9M38 Buk missile, which struck the front left of the plane. The Boeing 777, which carried 298 people, crashed in rebel-held east Ukraine in July 2014. Ukraine and western countries say it was Russian-backed rebels who fired the missile; Russia maintains it was fired from Ukrainian-controlled territory. Relatives of some of those who died in the crash have been told that passengers aboard the plane would have lost consciousness almost immediately.
DSB: Unlikely passengers had "conscious actions" after impact. "May have been reflexive actions such as clutching the armrests of the seat"
