A Dutch investigation into the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, which was shot down over Ukraine in July 2014, has reportedly found that a missile was fired from an area controlled by Ukraine rebels. Officials told victims’ families they could prove a mobile BUK missile launcher was moved into Ukraine from Russia and then moved back after the Boeing 777 was shot down, killing all 298 people on board. Investigators reportedly used communications intercepts and radar data as evidence in the probe, which lasted two years. The Russian government has repeatedly denied culpability in the disaster. Russian military officials on Monday said radio-location data proves the missile was not launched from a rebel-controlled area. Families of the victims were privately briefed on the investigation early Wednesday, and officials are expected to announce the preliminary results of the findings later in the afternoon.
