Ecuador said it will decide Thursday on whether or not to offer asylum to Julian Assange. The controversial Wikileaks founder sought refuge in the country’s embassy in London on Tuesday of this week, and awaits a decision from Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa. “The national government is considering its position and the president will give us his instructions tomorrow,” said Marco Albuja, Ecuador’s deputy foreign minister. Assange has waged a two-year legal battle in Britain to escape extradition to Sweden. British officials have said that Assange will face arrest for violating his bail if he leaves the embassy. He is wanted in Sweden for questioning regarding allegations of sexual assault against two women.
