Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman used a child and two of his female cooks as a human shield when as he fled from Mexican law enforcement after they raided his ranch in October, according to The New York Times. The move allowed Guzman to get away – Marines hovering an a Black Hawk helicopter decided the risk of the child or women was too high to shoot. Guzman, however, was captured earlier in January.
