Hail to the Chief

ElBaradei's Name Withdrawn

Hope he hadn’t planned his celebration party yet. Egypt’s local media is reporting that Mohamed ElBaradei’s name has been withdrawn for interim prime minister after push-back from main Salafi political party, al-Nour. Negotiations are ongoing for a new pick. ElBaradei, a Nobel laureate, is a former U.N. nuclear watchdog and current leader of an alliance of liberal and left-wing parties. Of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, ElBaradei told reporters Thursday: “Mr. Morsi unfortunately undermined his own legitimacy by declaring himself a few months ago as a pharaoh, and then we got into a fistfight and not a democratic process.”
