The week’s whirlwind of parties, flashbulbs, sequins and mega-high heels comes to a close tomorrow, as a few more spectacular shows—and one hilarious stunt—take place.

        True Prep

This morning, Tory Burch, the Upper East Side’s maverick, presented her Spring/Summer looks. Throngs of buyers, editors, and others lined the tents to see the presentation, which was as low-key as her looks. Gone were the oversize gilded logos on the shoes, which were some of the cutest she’s ever shown. Her paintbrush was dipped into the same colors we’ve seen through Fashion Week: blues, peaches and oranges, whites, creams and grays. As always, Burch displayed looks in a cross-section of luxe, flattering, and haute-prep—her clothes could be the companion wardrobe to Lisa Birnbach and Chip Kidd’s hilarious guidebook to the grosgrain life, True Prep, out this month from Knopf.

        Hello Dolly

What would fashion week be without a little injection of humor into the madness? Jezebel’s Sadie Stein pulled a stunt that outdid anyone in costume for the sake of attention and flashbulbs—she carried a giant doll, dressed up identically to herself, to Tuesday’s shows. “Not once,” Stein wrote, “Did anyone ask ‘why’ I was carrying a large doll in a matching outfit; at Fashion Week, it seemed, this was de rigeur.” At the time, reporters may not have known Stein was one of their own; HuffingtonPost tweeted that “a woman brought a doll dressed just like her to the Monique Lhullier show. Can’t see if the doll gets her own seat.”

        The Best of the Rest

Rodarte’s wunder-sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, who have put their designs in Target, too, put on a heavily textured show yesterday, with tweeds and prints all mixed up in an earthy-colored, lovely mess. Badgley Mischka and Vera Wang, masters of the gown, staged respective coups in beads, satin, and floor-length glamour. Yigal Azrouel channeled Irving Penn for his show, which was sedate and stately, save for the neon-red eyeshadow on his models. And Sophie Theallet, Michelle Obama’s newest darling, sent girly, insouciantly fresh, Mexican-inspired frocks down her stage.
