Erica Garner—whose father Eric died after a chokehold from a New York police officer, sparking nationwide protests—has suffered a heart attack. Family members told the New York Daily News that she is in critical condition. The 27-year-old, who is an advocate against police brutality, is reportedly unable to breathe on her own. Esaw Snipes-Garner, Erica’s mother, said that the heart attack was brought on by an asthma attack.
