European telecom giant Altice is buying Cablevision for $17.7 billion as part of its expansion into the U.S. market. The purchase consists of a mix of cash and stock, and includes the company’s debt, for Cablevision’s more than three million customers. The European company paid a 22 percent premium over Cablevision’s share price.
