A judge ruled Tuesday that the evidence against three former Penn State officials is strong enough to warrant a criminal case over their attempt to cover up the child-sex- abuse scandal involving disgraced ex-assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. Sandusky is currently serving 30 to 60 years in state prison. Prosecutors argued in a preliminary hearing that former President Graham Spanier, former vice president Gary Schultz, and ex-athletic director Tim Curley failed to report accusations of sexual abuse to the police and then actively engaged in activities meant to conceal the crime. The men have been charged with perjury, obstruction, endangering the welfare of children, failure to properly report suspected abuse, and conspiracy. They maintain their innocence.
