As primary votes are counted for Romney, Santorum.
With polls set to close at 9 p.m. ET in Michigan, the information pouring out of the state is giving few clues as to who might walk away a winner in the GOP primary. The New York Times is compiling heaps of data to try to understand the outcome between Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney, focusing first on the number of Michiganders who consider themselves very conservative (3 in 10). But polls show the state is more of a moderate conservative state than others that had GOP contests earlier this year. The two stats give weight to the opposing candidates. One poll said the last Republican debate has given Romney an advantage, while CNN reports that Democrats have taken to the polls to vote for Santorum, trying to weigh the contest in his favor.
