Expendables Sticks to No. 1

Box Office

Twilight parody Vampires Suck takes second.

Expendables, the tough-guy movie starring Sylvester Stallone, had a stronger-than-expected performance this weekend, finishing No. 1 at the box office for the second weekend in a row. Earning $16.5 million, the film’s total gross so far is about $65 million. The Twilight parody Vampires Suck was next in line, raking in about $18.5 million since its Wednesday opening. Several returning films fared well, too: Julia Roberts’ Eat Pray Love made an additional $12 million in its second week, and the Will Ferrell action-comedy The Other Guys made another $10.1 million in its third week. The weekend’s other new releases had fairly weak showings, with Lottery Ticket earning $11.1 million, Piranha 3D bringing in $10 million, and Jennifer Aniston’s The Switch landing in 8th place with $8 million.
