Amanda Knox did not make an appearance in an Italian court on Wednesday, but it was dramatic nonetheless. An expert witness testified that Knox’s DNA was found on the knife believed to have killed Knox’s roommate, Meredith Kercher. This claim helps Knox’s defense, since they have maintained it was not the murder weapon—and DNA from neither Kercher nor the Ivorian man convicted of killing her was found. Knox, an American college student, was convicted four years ago in the 2007 slaying of Kercher, but Knox’s conviction was overturned in 2011 and Knox returned to Seattle. Her ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollectio, also convicted and overturned, returned to court on Wednesday.
