Feds: Anti-Gay Discrimination Already Illegal

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled on Thursday that anti-LGBT discrimination is already illegal under existing civil rights law. “[A]llegations of discriminations on the basis of sexual orientation necessarily state a claim of discrimination on the basis of sex,” the commission ruled in a decision dated July 15. Though the ruling is not considered definitive, the Supreme Court often follows the decisions of the EEOC.
