Say it ain’t so, Lance: Federal prosecutors have widened their investigation since the end of the Tour de France last month into Lance Armstrong’s alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs. More members of the U.S. Postal Service team have reportedly come forward and supported disgraced cyclist Floyd Landis’ claims of Armstrong’s doping. According to Landis, Armstrong not only participated in doping but also encouraged others on the Postal Service team to take part, and the team also sold their bikes to finance the expensive doping regimen. Armstrong has denied any involvement in doping and has instead questioned Landis’ credibility. Federal prosecutors aren't taking Landis’ word lightly: Jeff Novitzky, who headed up the BALCO steroids case that disgraced many decorated athletes, is in charge of Armstrong’s investigation and cyclist Tyler Hamilton, who has been banned from the sport for eight years in connection to doping, has been subpoenaed.
