Rosa Maria Hernandez, an undocumented 10-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, was approved for release on Friday after being detained at a federal shelter for 10 days. "We have confirmation from her immigration attorney that she is currently on her way to be reunified with her parents," Andre Segura, legal director at the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas, told The Dallas Morning News. The ACLU had previously filed a lawsuit against Customs and Border Protection and the Office of Refugee Resettlement. Border patrol agents reportedly apprehended Hernandez at a Border Patrol checkpoint in an ambulance on the way to a hospital for a gallbladder surgery.
