The Department of Justice will seek the death penalty for Dylann Roof, the 22-year-old who shot and killed nine people at a predominantly black church in Charleston last year. “The nature of the alleged crime and the resulting harm compelled this decision,” Attorney General Loretta Lynch wrote in a DOJ statement on the decision.
