Feds Shut Down Marijuana Shops

The federal government isn’t wasting any time in cracking down on the sale of medical marijuana in California. Despite the fact that the drug is still legal in the state, federal officials announced in July that pot would not be legalized in the U.S. for medical purposes. Now they’re shutting down California’s marijuana shops, giving them 45 days to close their doors before they are liable for criminal prosecution. Four U.S. attorneys sent letters to 16 shops, warning of the crackdown and declaring that federal law “takes precedence over state law.”
